About Sciton Halo™

With so many laser treatments on the market it is hard to decide which one will best achieve your goals. Sciton Halo™ is the first and only laser that combines both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in a single pass to minimize downtime and maximize results. Since every patient is different, a one-size fits all approach never works when talking about laser. Halo™ is completely customizable to specifically target hyperpigmentation, sun damage, enlarged pores, fine lines, poor texture, acne scarring, and surgical scars.

What does maintenance look like?

You will begin to see results within 2-5 days after your treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. The greatest change in pigment will occur in the first 2-3 weeks while collagen will continue to build over 3 months. Halo results wipe away years of sun damage and can last for a long time when paired with medical grade skin care and sun protection. Each additional procedure will improve previous results and patients tend to see the best long-term outcomes when receiving yearly treatments. Halo™ can safely be performed on the face, neck, chest, and body.

What should I expect during my appointment?

Typically, a consultation will be required prior to your treatment in order to determine if Halo™ is the best treatment for you. This will allow our providers to discuss expected downtime and recommend any skin care products to prep the skin in order to maximize results. Topical numbing cream will be applied one hour prior to your treatment to reduce discomfort. Additional oral medications may be given if deemed necessary by your provider. Your face will be measured by the Sciton Halo™ to ensure even treatment in all areas. With the combination of topical numbing cream and our state-of-the-art cooling system most patients experience minor discomfort. Patients tend to describe feeling heat with mild prickling sensations. The treatment itself will last between 20-30 minutes and a warm sunburn sensation can be expected for about 4 hours following the procedure.

What does after care look like?

You will be provided a post-care kit that will include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and any medications recommended by your provider. On the evening of your Halo™, it is advised to take a Benadryl and Ibuprofen for swelling. The day of your procedure it is normal to have redness similar to a moderate sunburn. The next day may reveal some swelling of the face and pigment will begin to pull toward the surface. This can be anywhere from light bronzing to dark “dirt colored” pigmentation. This will begin to flake off over the next several days and skin typically fully recovers in 10-14 days. It is important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks following the procedure. It is best to avoid makeup and any products not provided by our office for 7-14 days following your treatment.
