What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also referred to as a nose surgery or a nose job, is a gold-standard cosmetic procedure to refine the nasal bridge, tip, and nostrils while improving breathing. The surgery can remove excess cartilage and bone, reshaping the nose to appear more balanced among the other features. Dr. Locketz can perform cosmetic rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, ethnic rhinoplasty, and rhinoplasty geared specifically towards men or women.

Elevate Your Confidence with Expert Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is performed to address cosmetic concerns with the nose, although it can also help to combat structural irregularities that make breathing difficult. For most who undergo nose surgery, the results elevate self-confidence and boost quality of life. Dr. Garrett Locketz is a skilled Fellowship-trained plastic surgeon who specializes in elegant, natural-looking outcomes that are perfectly tailored to the individual.

How is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Open rhinoplasty

During open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made at the base of the nose across the columella. This allows Dr. Locketz to access the inner structures of the nose with a great deal of precision and detail.

Closed rhinoplasty

Closed rhinoplasty involves incisions placed inside the nostrils, where scarring will be unseen. This approach is ideal for those requiring less involved changes to the bridge, tip, or nostrils.

Who Makes an Ideal Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their noses and who have already tried or considered non-surgical options will be pleased with the results of cosmetic rhinoplasty in Denver. Ideal candidates are physically and mentally healthy non-smokers who expect improvement rather than perfection. Dr. Locketz will perform a thorough evaluation during your private consultation to determine if rhinoplasty is a safe and viable option for achieving your aesthetic goals.

Rhinoplasty Types

Cosmetic

Cosmetic rhinoplasty addresses flaws in the nasal contours, balancing the nose among the other features and enhancing the patient’s overall appearance. Dr. Locketz carefully considers the patient’s gender, goals, and skin quality when choosing the ideal surgical approach.

Revision

While patients must wait at least one year before judging their rhinoplasty results, after this time, they can consider a revision procedure to address cosmetic and functional concerns that may have arisen. Dr. Locketz possesses the consummate skill and artistry to perform complex revision techniques with ease.

Ethnic

Ethnic rhinoplasty can be performed for patients of African-American, Hispanic, Middle-Eastern, and Asian descent. Rather than imposing Westernized beauty standards, the surgery helps preserve cultural heritage while improving aesthetic concerns in the tip, bridge, and nostrils.

Liquid

A liquid rhinoplasty can be performed non-surgically using dermal fillers. While results are not permanent and only limited changes can be created, a liquid rhinoplasty can be useful in helping patients to imagine their new noses before committing to invasive surgery.

What is the  Recovery for Rhinoplasty?

After rhinoplasty, patients will need a friend or family member to escort them home and assist them for the first 24-48 hours. Swelling, bruising, and tenderness will peak during the first few days and then gradually subside. Dr. Locketz will provide pain medications and a detailed aftercare plan for each patient.

Because swelling will be present to some degree for up to one year, it is important that patients not judge their outcome too early. In the coming weeks and months, the nose will slowly reveal its new, improved shape.

Most patients can resume work within a few weeks, being careful to avoid strenuous exercise or any activity that could damage the nose for around 4-6 weeks, or as directed by Dr. Locketz.

Rhinoplasty FAQ

Can rhinoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Is rhinoplasty covered by insurance?

Can rhinoplasty be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Rhinoplasty is often paired with chin augmentation to comprehensively improve and balance the profile. It can also be combined with dermal fillers to augment surgical results and correct depressions or indentations in the skin.

Is rhinoplasty covered by insurance?

Most rhinoplasties are performed for cosmetic purposes and are therefore not covered by insurance carriers. If nose surgery is performed to correct functional issues that are impairing breathing, part or all of the costs may be covered. It is always best to check with your individual carrier.
