Our fat transfer in Denver can help counteract the loss of volume and shape that occurs with the aging process. Fat grafting can be used to augment the breasts without implants or to enhance the buttocks, creating a more feminine, rounded figure.

One of the biggest advantages of fat transfer is that it provides a secondary benefit of sculpting the donor regions, typically the hips, belly, flanks, or thighs. Fat is extracted from these areas of excess using high-definition VASER liposuction. Once the fat is purified and sterilized, it is then injected into the recipient region, creating more youthful, attractive contours.

What Is Fat Transfer?

When a patient loses a significant amount of weight or undergoes the natural aging process, they may notice decreased volume in certain body parts. One way to enhance volume is through an innovative procedure known as fat transfer. This treatment removes unwanted fat from the stomach, thighs, arms, or love handles using VASER liposuction.
Next, our skilled, Fellowship-trained cosmetic plastic surgeon, Dr. Barker, transfers the fat to another area that requires additional curves. Depending on your cosmetic goals, Dr. Barker can easily transfer fat to the buttocks, breasts, lower eyelids, cheeks, or lips. Fat transfer treatments are an excellent solution for patients who prefer a natural-looking aesthetic.

Who is a Good Candidate for Fat Transfer?

  • Desires more volume in certain areas of the body
  • Wants to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, or folds on the face
  • Prefers natural-looking results
  • Has enough donor fat available in the belly, hips, or flanks
  • Has realistic expectations for improvement rather than perfection
  • Is a healthy non-smoker

How long will the results of a fat transfer last?

A fat transfer offers gorgeous results that could last for years with the proper care. While Dr. Barker uses modern techniques to minimize reabsorption into the body, there is usually a small amount of fat that will not survive. If you want to touch up your fat transfer after a few years, a second procedure can be performed.

What if I don’t have enough fat for a transfer?

During your assessment at Peak Plastic Surgery Center, we can discuss how much fat is needed to achieve your cosmetic goals. Some patients may not have enough fat for the transfer, but this is only a problem if you have a very low body fat percentage. Our staff can discuss your options if additional fat is needed.

How much does a fat transfer cost?

The cost of fat transfer surgery varies based on several factors. For example, treatments that require a small amount of fat may cost less. Our team can provide pricing estimates and payment options during your initial appointment.

What To Expect From Fat Transfer Treatments

During your outpatient surgery, Dr. Barker will begin by administering local anesthesia. Next, he makes a small incision near the treatment area and uses high-definition VASER liposuction to remove the unwanted fat from your stomach, hips, waist, back, thighs, or upper arms. While removing the fat, Dr. Barker places it into a sterile harvesting canister for purification. This makes the fat easier to inject into the preferred body part, such as the buttocks, breasts, lips, or cheeks.
After purifying the fat, Dr. Barker will carefully inject it into the selected treatment area(s) and repeat this step until reaching your desired goals. Finally, Dr. Barker and the Operating Room staff will place you in your postoperative compression garment and take you back to the recovery room for careful monitoring. Remember that you will have two different areas that require healing: the extraction area and injection location, which will both experience mild swelling and bruising.

Elegant, Natural-Looking Outcomes
